Commissions

A painting made for your place.

Some pieces cannot be found in a gallery: the loon on your lake, the dog who slept under your desk, the ridge you walk every fall. Those are commissions, and they start with a conversation rather than a price list.

Loon, a richly coloured painting of a Canadian loon on water by Jennifer Claveau

How it works

  1. 01

    Tell me the subject

The animal, the bird, the stretch of shoreline. A photograph helps, but so does a description of what you remember about it.

  2. 02

    We settle size and colour

We talk about the wall it will hang on, the light in that room and how bold you want the palette. I send a quote before anything begins.

  3. 03

I paint, and you see progress

Layers go on over a few weeks. I send photographs along the way so nothing is a surprise at the end.

  4. 04

    It arrives, ready to hang

Varnished, wired and packed by hand here in Oro-Medonte, then shipped or delivered locally.

Good to know

Commission pricing depends on size and complexity, and I only take on a handful at a time so each one gets proper attention. If a commission is not the right fit, I will say so and point you toward a print or a small original instead.
