Every workshop is capped at a small number of people so there is time for individual guidance.
A relaxed three hour acrylic painting workshop for adults on Bass Lake. Paint a wildlife or landscape study from start to finish, with a catered lunch in the gallery.

Painting the birds, foxes and deer that move through this landscape, starting with how to really look at an animal before the brush touches canvas.
Bass Lake shorelines, wetlands and open landscapes of Oro-Medonte and Muskoka. Reading light, water and weather, then finding a way to put them down in paint.
Mixing, layering and pushing colour further than feels safe. The same colour thinking that runs through my own studio practice.
Working with soil, texture and unexpected materials. Sessions where the point is to test something rather than finish something.
Field sketching and note taking outdoors. Building a visual record of a place across seasons that later feeds finished work.

Green Forest Gallery, Bass Lake
This is the studio and gallery where I teach, a quiet lakeside neighbourhood space on the edge of Bass Lake. It is a relaxed place to paint, experiment and learn. The same walls that display finished work are where we gather to make new work together.
Private and group workshops
I build private sessions for small groups of friends, families, workplaces, community organizations, artist collectives and multi day retreats. Sessions can run at Green Forest Gallery or travel to your space in the Oro-Medonte, Barrie, Orillia and Muskoka region, and the subject can be tailored to your group, wildlife, landscape, colour experiments or plein air observation.
