Harvest Colours watercolour session: a still life of fresh local market produce, flowers and watercolour paints at The Green Forest Gallery on Bass Lake

A Sunday morning watercolour session

Harvest Colours

A Watercolour Session

Sunday, September 20, 2026 · 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Spend a quiet Sunday morning lakeside at The Green Forest Gallery on Bass Lake, painting a still life gathered from the harvest table.

Our subjects come fresh from the Orillia Fairgrounds Farmers' Market at ODAS Park, featuring local produce from area vendors: late-season vegetables, fruit and flowers arranged in the morning light.

This is an unhurried approach to watercolour, slowing down to really see colour and light before the brush ever touches the paper. No experience is necessary.

Slow Down and See the Harvest

Before we paint, we look. Jennifer will guide you through a few quiet minutes of simply observing the still life: where the light falls, how one colour leans into another, what wants to be painted first.

From there, a relaxed demonstration on washes, layering and letting watercolour do what it does best, then the morning is yours to paint at your own pace with individual guidance throughout.

Your morning

Two hours at the gallery

1

10:00 AM

Arrive and settle in

Come in from the lake, pour a coffee, and gather around the still life of fresh produce from the Orillia Fairgrounds Farmers' Market at ODAS Park while everyone finds a seat.

2

10:15 AM

Looking before painting

A short, quiet exercise in observation: noticing colour, light and shadow in the harvest arrangement, then a demonstration of the first washes.

3

10:45 AM

Paint the still life

You paint at your own pace while Jennifer moves between six participants, offering individual guidance on colour mixing, light and loose, lively washes.

4

12:00 PM

Take it home

We stand the mornings' work up together, and you leave with your finished watercolour of the harvest.

Fresh from ODAS Park

The still life changes with the market. Each session's arrangement is gathered fresh from the Orillia Fairgrounds Farmers' Market at ODAS Park, featuring seasonal produce from local vendors, so no two Sunday mornings paint the same painting.

Come to one Sunday or come to both. Each stands alone as a complete session.

A Quiet Morning by the Lake

This is not about producing a perfect painting. It is about giving yourself two unhurried hours to look closely, mix colour and enjoy the simple pleasure of paint and water on paper.

The Green Forest Gallery sits lakeside on Bass Lake in Oro-Medonte. With only six participants, the morning stays quiet, personal and relaxed.
